DevilBearRock’s 2010…

January 1, 2011

2010 was a pretty busy year in all areas for both of us, we met alot of great fans, bands, and everything in between at shows, festivals… down the pub.  So here’s a quick run through of what we did this past year, incase you missed it!

We started off the year in a quiets sombre and sad. With the help of our extended A7X Family we got through it.

February kicked us back off into our concert schedule for the year starting with a boozey night at Shepherds Bush Empire for the incredible Lacuna Coil.  We also interviewed the lovely Ryan Shuck from Dead By Sunrise/Julien-K/Orgy at the Forum, then went on to shoot the band later on, then partied it up at the show.

This month we found time to go and ‘Feel The Steel’ with Steel Panther at Brixton Academy.

Our friends Sacred Mother Tongue played at The Purple Turtle in Camden so we went along to get some shots from the night. Check out the guys and like them on Facebook here >>

May should have been the month we got to go to see the Deftones at ULU for a tiny gig, but Cheryl got struck with Tonsilitis, but she got well enough to ‘Rock and Roll Allnight’ at KISS.

Before we made our way up to Derby for Download Festival our pals in Sacred Mother Tongue scored a gig at Shepherds Bush Empire opening for the Michael Schenker Group, so we went along, got lost backstage had some fun.
Download Festival was something else entirely…our highlights of the weekend were definitely Atreyu and Stone Sour. Mentions to the amazing Imicus who filled the Redbull tent on the Friday night too, check them out at

Summer was definitely in full swing as we prepared for Sonisphere, our friends Sacred Mother Tongue & Imicus played a fun gig in Northampton so we popped along to show support and grab some shots for their label Transcend Music Group.

The end of the month finally arrived and we jumped in the car on a sunny Saturday morning and drove up to Knebworth for Sonisphere, traffic was hell and we unfortunately missed 90% of Papa Roach’s set which sucked, but Good Charlotte & Corey Taylor’s sets totally rocked to make up for it.  The Saturday at Sonisphere was then very chilled for us, we took in Motley Crue with some yummy cheesey chips and partied a little in the VIP bar with the gang before heading home for a nap ready for the hectic working day on Sunday eek!

Sonisphere Festival Sunday happened to be in August…. after a good night’s sleep we got on the road early to head to Knebworth ready for Sacred Mother Tongue’s Sonisphere debut on the Jagermeister stage then an epic 4+ hours of press for the boys which was where we spent our afternoon. But not before a spot of breakfast and making our way to the mainstage to watch Madina Lake do their thing.

The Sacred Mother Tongue boys then rocked one hell of a huge crowd at the Jager’ stage complete with cheeky little bassist Josh Gurner taking his Bass for a walk in their final song of the set and climbed the Jagermeister truck before creating what is now known as… ‘The Josh Pit’.

Cheryl introduced her sister in law, Vicky, to our world by taking her to see The Murderdolls at a small midnight gig in London.
The conversion was a success and the show was phenomenal!  September also saw Bec run the Windsor Half Marathon!

Here was the month we’d been waiting for a while now, yes you all know what we mean. The Avenged Sevenfold/Stone Sour co-headlining tour. At the beginning of the month for Bec’s birthday we saw Stone Sour, Lacuna Coil, Sacred Mother Tongue & Imicus before Bec had to move house which took up all our pre-tour prep time before we jumped in the car to start our two weeks of madness!

October saw the first 4 shows of our trek, Manchester, Birmingham and the 2 London shows. (Halloween being of epic proportions and the night of partying lasted until about 9am the next morning – yeah that’s how we do it).  We also met 3 awesome and fab drummers Roy Mayorga, Vinnie Paul and the lovely Mike Portnoy.

And how could we forget, we interviewed the one and only Jim Root from Slipknot/Stone Sour (and got huge hugs – cue girliness here).

November saw us visit Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester & Brighton on the Avenged Sevenfold/Stone Sour tour, party again with team HellYeah, then co-ordinate a group of international Linkin Park fans for Music For Relief who were volunteering to plant trees in London and raise money at the O2 Arena at the Linkin Park, we also helped with the LPU who held their first LPU Fan summit.  After we were done we vowed to hibernate for the rest of the month.

Stay tuned later this month when we’ll have the November shows for Avenged Sevenfold & Stone Sour up in the Gallery.

Our gigs in December were pretty rad, after scoring a photopass for Taste Of Chaos (Features: Halestorm/Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Disturbed) Cheryl was excited to get going, we then got offered an interview with the lovely cheeky chaps from Atreyu Dan & Travis for later that week.  Interview and featuring coming soon for Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine & Bring Me The Horizon.

So there you have it… that was our 2010 (we’ve got one or two more uploads & features in January coming from 2010), what will 2011 bring us? We’ll just have to wait!

Happy New Year everyone!
