So you’re a big fan and it makes you happy… so what!

You are now what people class as a ‘grown up’. You should be responsible, professional and serious about everything according to the rules of the world. Your friends and work colleagues all talk about their holiday and weekend plans, how they’re going to this place, to see this thing, for this reason, they then turn to you to ask so why you going to >insert location here< next weekend? And they look at you in bemusement and mocking ‘oh well that’s, erm interesting, a bit far for a concert though right?’

You roll your eyes and think ‘not again’.

you hear your favourite band is touring again. Let’s say it’s the Backstreet Boys no matter how old you are now, something will spark in your memory of times from when you first discovered you liked them, they made you happy.

Everyone around you is asking you, why do you need to go to the same concert twice? They just don’t get it, and why should they?

Should you be embarrassed for deciding to travel to New York for a long weekend to see >insert your favourite band<, using your paid annual leave time to do something that makes you happy? Should you have to explain yourself to those that will never understand? Certainly not!

Sports fans are allowed to travel up and down the country to support their favourite team, movie fans can go see a movie at the cinema numerous times, gamers can spend all their spare time glued to a computer/tv screen with game controller in hand with the latest game. So why, is it so difficult for them to understand the desire to not only see your favourite band, but travelling to new locations to do so?
